We are excited today to announce the conditional acquisition of Perry Metal Protection, Perry Grating and Waikato Sand Blasting. Together, they form New Zealand’s leading corrosion protection and treatment experts, as well as being a leading supplier of grating products centred around high quality commercial and industrial applications.

Perry Metal Protection is New Zealand’s leading corrosion protection and treatment experts with a 44% market share in hot dip galvanising – this is a process that coats metal with zinc to protect it from corrosion and oxidation, creating a durable layer that can last for decades. This substantially extends the life of steel which is already a highly sustainable and recyclable product.

The grating business is primarily used for industrial and commercial construction, for example, flooring, stair treads, drain covers and trenches, and mezzanine flooring. Products are typically fabricated to customer project needs.

Waikato Sandblasting provides high quality blasting services on a wide range of items, including structural steel, heavy equipment and vehicles!

Perry Metal Protection is a great addition to our business – it introduces a new high value processing solution, is less cyclical than other parts of our business, our customer bases are highly aligned and it has well known brands, national reach and a strong reputation.

These are new product offers for Steel & Tube and further expands our broad product mix.

Growth is a key part of our strategy and we’ve successfully invested into a number of new products and solutions over the past four years. We’re excited to be welcoming the Perry Group businesses to Steel & Tube.

More detail on the transaction has been released with today’s half year results announcement here.
