Steel & Tube is pleased to receive certification as a Chartered Member of the Sustainable Steel Council (SSC). This recognises the work being done by companies to advance the sustainability of their operations in line with the SSC charter. SSC Chartered Membership is also recognised as a criterion in the New Zealand Green Building Council’s Green Star (NZGBC) rating scheme.

The certification was awarded to Steel & Tube following the successful completion of an audit by the SSC. The audit process is based on set criteria aligned with the SSC Charter, reflecting Treasury’s Living Standard’s Framework and relevant Sustainable Development Goals. It also recognises any additional work undertaken by individual members to advance the sustainability of their operations in line with the SSC Charter.

Speaking of the achievement, Steel & Tube’s Group Sustainability Manager, Trent Brash, says: “As a business, we take pride in this accomplishment. It’s a mark of recognition that we are doing our part to protect our environment and communities. As a leader in the New Zealand steel industry, we see sustainability as crucial to the continued success of both our business and the communities which we support”.
