30 May 2013: Steel & Tube today announced to the New Zealand Stock Exchange the appointment of Anne Urlwin as a new member to the company’s Board of Directors. Anne Urlwin is a professional director, chartered accountant and business consultant.

Anne Urlwin joins the Board to replace Steve Hamer. Steve Hamer, Chief Executive One Steel Distribution at Arrium, resigned as a Director on 9 October 2012 following the divestiture by Arrium of their 50.3 per cent shareholding in the company.

Anne has more than 20 years’ directorship experience in sectors ranging from infrastructure, telecommunications, energy, health, transport, information technology, research, banking, forestry and the primary sector as well as education, sports administration and the arts. She is currently Chair of Naylor Love Enterprises Ltd and has directorships with Chorus Ltd, Southern Response Earthquake Services Ltd, and One Path Life (NZ) Ltd.

As a director, chair and deputy chair, Anne has held non-executive roles with a range of organisations during different stages of their life cycles; from start-up through to fully mature, and within organisations with varied stakeholders. These stakeholder groups include commercially-focused owners in the private sector as well as in government and local-government sectors, not-for-profit organisations, and shareholders in the publicly-listed arena.

Anne is a member of the College of Chartered Accountants, the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and is also a Fellow of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand and of the New Zealand Institute of Management. She is South-Island based with strong business connections in the South Island and particularly in Christchurch where Steel & Tube has a solid presence.

Steel & Tube Chairman Sir John Anderson said he was delighted to welcome Ms Urlwin and looked forward to her involvement with the company. He also thanked Steve Hamer for his outstanding service on the Board over a 12-month period.

Anne Urlwin’s appointment is effective from 1 June 2013.

The Steel & Tube Board membership comprises six members, five as Independent Directors: Sir John Anderson, Chair; Dean Prichard; Janine Smith; Rosemary Warnock; Anne Urlwin; and Dave Taylor as Chief Executive officer and Non-independent Director.
