Team work makes the dream work.

A great collaboration between Steel & Tube, MBIE as part of SWEP (Sector Wide Engagement Programme) and Papakura High School has seen a workplace experience opportunity turn into real employment starting 12 October 2020.

RJ was a student in Papakura High School who had been undertaking work experience at S&T on a weekly basis during 2020 as part of the MBIE Skills Hub programme. Unfortunately due to Covid levels there were some periods where they couldn't be on site with the staff. In spite of this RJ showed a great attitude and appetite for wanting to be part of the S&T team. MBIE also came to the party by providing a $200 HOP Card to help RJ navigate his way to work at the Saville Drive Reinforcing site. David McGregor (General Manager CFDL REO) was also on hand to encourage RJ to enjoy the challange, to be open to opportunities and to be aware of his safety and others.
