Aluminium Update – China Cancels 13% Export Tax Rebate

On Friday, 15 November 2024, the Chinese Government announced the cancellation of its 13% export tax rebate for aluminium products, effective 1 December 2024.

This policy change will have an immediate impact, as all aluminium materials exported from China after this date — including existing orders — will be subject to the rebate cancellation, resulting in a 13% price increase.

Additionally, the market has observed a recent upward trend in aluminium prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME), compounded by a weakening New Zealand dollar (NZD).

Global shipping rates have also experienced a significant surge in 2024 driven by unprecedented disruptions in major maritime routes and rising operational costs.

As a result, effective 13 January 2025, there will be a 15% increase on all aluminium sheet, plate, and coil products.

We understand that price increases are never easy, and we greatly appreciate your understanding as we navigate these external challenges. Thank you for your continued support and trust in our business.
