Steel, Metals & Fasteners Price Notification - May 2026

Dear Valued Customer

As anticipated in our November price notification, cost pressures across global supply chains have continued to intensify into 2026, and we have absorbed these pressures for as long as possible. Effective 1 June 2026, we will be applying a price increase across the following ranges:

  • Aluminium 8% – 12%

  • Stainless steel 5% – 8%

  • Steel 4% – 8%

  • Fasteners 4%

The increases across the above categories reflect a combination of sustained global cost pressures flowing into the New Zealand market. Aluminium commodity prices have pushed toward multi-year highs, driven by global supply constraints, rising energy costs, and tightening smelter capacity. Nickel and chromium (key inputs for stainless steel) remain elevated as Asian mills hold firm on pricing, continuing to increase landed costs. Steel feedstock costs have stabilised at higher levels, with supply chain disruptions and demand shifts in key export markets keeping finished product costs under pressure. For fasteners, extended lead times and higher raw material and freight costs from key manufacturing regions are contributing to upward cost movement. For more information on the market movements please refer to our recent market update.

The global environment remains uncertain, and we will continue to monitor conditions closely. Should cost pressures persist or intensify, we may need to review pricing again.

We understand that price changes affect planning and quoting, and we remain committed to supporting you through this transition.

If you have questions, please reach out to your Account Manager, Tradeshop, our Customer Service Team or our Webshop. Thank you again for your continued support and for choosing Steel & Tube as a key supplier.
