The last month has brought volatility in global and national fuel markets, and we know many of our valued customers are already feeling the impact. Over the past week alone, crude oil prices have fluctuated significantly. Hopefully these changes are short-lived, however many freight operators have already applied surcharges to provide some recovery against these unexpected surges in cost.
Our priority is to continue providing you with the reliable delivery service you depend on, while keeping our approach to pricing fair and transparent. To manage these external pressures, Steel & Tube will introduce a variable fuel component within our freight charges, effective 16 March 2026. This adjustment will appear within the standard freight line on your invoices. The variable component will move in line with fuel price movements rather than being a fixed increase, so that freight charges reflect actual changes in transport costs.
We have designed this approach so that you only pay for the fuel movements that are passing through our supply chain - rather than precautionary pricing. The variable component will be reviewed regularly and adjusted in line with fuel price changes as they occur. We expect these will be aligned with increases you are seeing elsewhere in your own fuel costs. Our goal is to ensure you receive consistent, dependable service, with fair pricing.
If you would like to discuss how this affects your business or have any questions about this, your Account Manager and our Customer Service team are here to help.
Thank you for your continued partnership and trust in Steel & Tube. Thank you again for your continued support and for choosing Steel & Tube as a key supplier.
Yours Sincerely,
James Campbell | National Pricing Manager
